The United States Environmental Protection Agency: EPA.gov
Project: Web Operations Management Strategic Roadmap; Information Architecture Strategy; Web CMS Pilot
Challenge:
The EPA.gov Web site has over 500K discreet information assets. The organization was challenged to transform a federated Web management strategy (apparent in its silo’d approach to content delivery) to a more comprehensive unified model. Specific challenges include: the development of a Web taxonomy; the migration of Web content to a unified user-centered design; aligning internal publishing resources to adopt similar Web publishing practices
Outcome:
Our team conducted an assessment of the EPA’s Web operations including an as-is evaluation of the effectiveness of the agency’s Web presence. We have also been working with the EPA to adopt a new publishing paradigm which focuses on more comprehensive approaches to information management and delivery through the use of a single Web content management tool and the consistent tagging of Web content assets. We also provided key strategic business analysis to help secure appropriate funding from Senior Managers. In addition, we’ll support the EPA through the migration of all Web assets to the new structure.
