American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
Project: Web Governance Development and Implementation
Challenge:
The Society's Web presence grew organically over the last decade and currently includes more than 130 individual domains. As a result, it became difficult to maintain consistency and to present a unified message to ASCE's member and non-member audiences.
Outcome:
We interviewed internal and external stakeholders to pinpoint ASCE's Web governance challenges and crafted a framework in which the organization could transition from ad hoc Web projects to a mature process for garnering inputs and and making strategic decisions. The new framework has allowed the organization to move forward with a more unified approach to Web site development. Specifically, we provided:
- A framework outlining roles and responsibilities for governing bodies
- Guidance on the implementation of the Web governance framework
- Guiding principles to drive strategic initiatives
- Ongoing support in the development of Web policies and standards
